Forest School

At Notting Hill Day Nursery, we like to spend a lot of time in the garden, where we have a range of outdoor toys and activities for all of our children. 

Over the years we have run a number of Forest School programmes on site for our eldest children.

Our aim is to use the outdoor environment as a provocation for learning. Exploring the natural environment children are encouraged to make their own decisions, take calculated risks and set their own boundaries. 

As far as possible all the sessions are child-initiated and 'play' based which inspires the children who take part to grow in confidence, independence and self esteem. Each of our forest school sessions offers planned learning experiences which link directly to the Early Years Foundation Stage and above all are FUN!

 Our forest school programme may give your child the opportunity to master small achievable tasks and experience activities such as sawing wood, making shelters or cooking on an open fire.

Safety is a priority and forms a natural part of the session, by involving children in the decision making process they are able to take calculated risks and set their own boundaries.
